Ancient Greece

Ancient Greek houses were built around a garden or a large courtyard. The walls were often made out of wood or sun-dried mud bricks. They had small windows with no glass but wooden shutters to keep away from the hot sun. At night Greeks slept on beds which were stuffed with wool. There walls were not as good as the ones we have today because the walls kept collapsing which meant they had to keep re-building the houses. Men and women had to live in different parts of the house. Women had the back and upstairs part. Most of the houses in the Greek town were built from stone or clay. The roofs were covered with tiles or reeds and the houses had one or two stores. The floors of the rooms were tiled to keep them cool, although in the winter fires in metal baskets were sometimes needed.Larger homes had a kitchen,a room of bathing,a mens dining room and sometimes a women’s sitting room. The houses were mostly planned around a courtyard and had high walls and a strong gate. Lots of ancient Greeks families life centred around a courtyard.

Did you know any of this if you didn’t guess what you have just learnt. I hope you liked reading it if you did like I at the bottom. Thank you!!!
